Notes on life in the Netherlands, the little things that surprise me, and the ongoing adventure of feeling at home.

A familiar evening in Haarlem.
Somewhere between new and familiar.
When we moved to Haarlem, I started writing about the little surprises, frustrations, and funny moments that come with building a life somewhere new. Some stories are about bicycles and rain. Others are about family, belonging, and what home means when you have more than one.
Here are a few of those stories, in my own words.
What Stayed With Me
Memories From When My Mother Lost Hers
During a holiday break, I wrote a short book about walking alongside my mom through dementia. It isn't a guide or a traditional memoir. It's my attempt to put words to something that's hard to explain, and perhaps help someone else feel a little less alone.
